Safe Driving For Life

Once you have passed your driving test you may feel that you are ready to drive on any road under any circumstances and it is very easy to be lulled into a false sense of security

It is very important to realise that during your driver training you would not normally have experienced high speeds with traffic all around you

Driving on the motorway can be a very different experience and other road users may not be aware that you are a newly qualified driver

What is Pass Plus?

• Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of    passing their test due to a lack of driving experience. Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at new drivers. The course aims to build upon your newly acquired driving skills and knowledge

What is involved in Pass Plus?

• The Driving Standards Agency recommends that at least 6 hours training is completed
• Pass Plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and can help you to become more confident on the roads
• The 6 areas covered are:
        • driving in town
        • driving in all weathers
        • driving on rural roads
        • driving at night
        • driving on dual carriageways
        • driving on motorways
• You will not have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard

Who can take a Pass Plus course?

• Anyone who holds a full UK license

What are the benefits of Pass Plus?

• When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course
• It is fair to say that some students forget to put into practice what they have learnt after passing their test. The Pass Plus builds on previous training and re-enforces and promotes good driving practice

When should a Pass Plus course be taken?

• We would recommend that you take a course a few weeks after you have passed your driving test
