Ecodriving is a way of driving that reduces fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and accident rates

Ecodriving is about driving in a style suited to modern engine technology:

Smart, smooth and safe driving techniques that lead to average fuel savings of 5-10%.

Ecodriving offers benefits for drivers of cars, vans, lorries and buses: cost savings and fewer accidents as well as reductions in emissions and noise levels.

Several European countries have implemented successful ecodriving programmes.

There are five rules to follow to make ecodriving as effective as possible.

Ecodriving
What is ecodriving and how you can help to reduce fuel bills
  Five golden rules to follow

  • Shift up to the next gear as soon as possible, between 2.000 and 2.500 revolutions

  • Use the highest gear possible and drive at a steady speed with low engine RPM

  • Watch and anticipate the traffic flow as far ahead as possible

  • When you slow down or stop, decelerate smoothly by releasing the accelerator in time, leaving the car in gear

  • Check the tyre pressure frequently. If tyre pressure is reduced by 25% rolling resistance is increased by 10% and fuel consumption by 2%.
